Eligible Saskatoon voters are reminded of the following changes in place for the Civic Elections occurring on Wednesday, October 24:
Eligible voters must establish their identity and address prior to voting.
A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license may be used. If you do not have one, you need to show two other pieces of identification, such as a City of Saskatoon Utility Bill and a Saskatchewan Health Services Card. The full list of identification options can be found at www.saskatoon.ca/go/vote.
Ward boundaries have been revised.
Since the last election in 2009, ward boundaries have been revised. This may change the ward in which you reside, and therefore, the list of candidates for Ward Councillor or School Board Trustee for whom you will vote. The new ward boundary maps are posted online.
Voters who will be away during the Advance Polls and on Election Day may vote by mail.
Eligible voters who plan to be away from Saskatoon on Election Day and during the Advance Polls may apply to vote using a mail-in ballot. Applications to vote by mail must be made in person at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall (2nd Floor, 222 – 3rd Avenue North). Mail-in ballots must be received by the Returning Officer by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
Change in terms of office for elected officials.
Elected officials will hold office for four (4) years, as opposed to three (3) years. This is the first municipal election for which this change will be in place.
