The First Annual Fall Supper and AGM that took place on October 18 was a huge success for the SNPCA! A great number of community members were in attendance and enjoyed a fabulous meal prepared by Heart and Soul catering. The younger community members spent the night running out their energy in the ECF’s gym, while adults visited with other members, both old and new. We are especially grateful to those that stuck around for the AGM and helped bring in our new council members as well as passing the motion that requires all coaches and volunteers working with child to have a criminal records check. We are sad to have Elizabeth Ford step down as President since she has been such an important member of the council for years, but she will stay on to advise new President Shane Roppel who will no doubt be a perfect fit!
As of October 15th the #6 Wilson/Preston bus no longer serves South Nutana Park students with access to Aden Bowman Collegiate. A school special bus has been arranged for students, pick up is scheduled starting at 8:30 am at Wilson Cres and Preston Ave and continues via Wilson Cres and Clarence Ave. Pick up from Aden Bowman is scheduled for 3:19 and travels back along the same route. Student using the bus must have a valid Saskatoon School I.D. and transit passes are sold in the school office. For more information log on to www.saskatoon.ca and click on transit or phone (306) 975-7500. Community members would like to remind everyone that if the service is not used it runs the risk of being cancelled.
Adelaide Park/Churchill Community Association is hosting a series of 3 informational sessions geared toward parents and their children in grades 5 to 8. The discussions centre around the issues of drugs and alcohol and how families can keep an open and honest line of communication with their children who may be encountering these issues. Sessions will take place at Hugh Cairns School and St. Philip Library, October 23, November 1 and November 13 (which is a parent only session). The evening will lay out as follows:
5:30 Prepare Supper

6:30 – 7:15 Parents and Youth go into separate group sessions
7:15-8:00 Parents and their Youth session together

Come one and all to the First Annual Fall Supper and AGM!
The night will begin Thursday October 18th at 6 pm at the ECF High School 2320 Louise Ave. The supper is free for anyone attending and will be catered by South Nutana Park’s own, Heart and Soul Catering. This a great opportunity to meet members of your community and have a chance to voice any suggestions or concerns to the council. The SNPCA has put out a survey that asks residents for constructive suggestions on where we could use extra dollars and each completed survey will be entered in a draw for a night’s stay at one of Saskatoon’s family friendly hotels. There are positions that still need to be filled on the board and anyone interested in learning more about them before committing will have their opportunity. The night will conclude with a brief AGM that will vote on important motions such as having all volunteers and coaches submit to a criminal record check. Drop in and meet your neighbors, help shape the community, and get a FREE meal!
